GoodVision has been active in the Andean country since 2019 under the name Lentes al Instante (Peru). The team now reaches all regions of the country and, with its all-female production team, ensures the supply of frames itself.

Good eyesight for all
Good vision for all people in Peru is the big goal that LAI (Peru) has in mind when the team of over 20 people packs the equipment into the minibuses.
Third site in Arequipa
A third team in Arequipa has been providing long-awaited relief since 2022, greatly expanding the radius of action: the new location in Peru's second largest city reduces transportation costs and time for the campaigns, as the arduous journey to and from Lima, 16 hours away, is no longer necessary. Since July 2022, an optometrist and eight trained GoodVision Technicians (GVTs) have been providing people in the southern provinces of Peru with urgently needed eye tests and glasses.
Only women in the eyewear production
Another milestone is the country's own eyewear production workshop, which started work in April 2022. This is a major advantage, as it means that supplies are guaranteed at all times without having to order from neighboring Bolivia. The instant glasses, as the Spanish name Lentes al Instante translates, therefore live up to their name. And there is another special feature: Alejandra Portillo, the program manager of LAI (Peru) at the time, made a point of ensuring that the production team consisted exclusively of women. She found support in Petra Kathmann, who financed and co-supervised the project on behalf of the Dieter Kathmann Foundation.
Petra Kathmann and I wanted to open the first production facility for GoodVision Glasses, where only single mothers are employed. Despite all the resistance, we believed in the power of women.
