Travel tips for world savers – BOLIVIA Edition
The ultimate travel tips from world savers for world explorers. René von Künßberg, Head of Optics & Production and Heike Hertrich, Head of Regional Group Erlangen, take you to Bolivia and show you their highlights from the Andean country of Bolivia!
Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia
Feel the white expanse until your breath stops. This is only possible here in Bolivia: the Salar de Uyuni is the largest salt flat in the world. It covers an area of more than 12,000 square kilometers, is about 160 kilometers long and 135 kilometers wide. The inhabitants of Bolivia call the huge salt pan the "White Sea". It is even said to be visible from space as a giant white dot.
Santa Cruz by night
A walk through the city at night - my absolute highlight in Santa Cruz. A walk across the Plaza 24 Septiembre, the view of San Lorenzo, the city's impressive cathedral with its mighty bell towers are a MUST on any trip to Santa Cruz.
Discovering the world as a volunteer and helping people to see. That is pure happiness!
The mountains of Bolivia
Mountain peaks, barren expanses and longing for the Andes are satisfied here like nowhere else. The real highlight of my trip to Bolivia and a place of longing on every trip to South America.
"La Rinconada" Botanical Garden, Santa Cruz
On the way to Porongo, just 15 minutes from the city of Santa Cruz, lies La Rinconada, a tropical paradise in miniature. In hilly terrain, with beautiful lagoons and waterfalls as well as hundreds of exotic and indigenous plants, Bolivia's nature can be discovered in a particularly family-friendly way. My insider tip: the Victoria amazonica, the largest water lily in the world!
I couldn't experience the beauty of Bolivia without glasses. World explorers need glasses!
